Activities for children
Champrepus Zoo is a 30 minute drive away and is a great day out for all the family. This is a well run zoo with a wide variety of animals from big game species to farm animals which children can pet. More information can be found at www.zoo-champrepus.com
The Enchanted Village, which is a favourite for younger children up to 10 years old, is 15 minutes away. You can get a flavour at www.village-enchante.fr (French language only).
Alligator Bay is close to Le Mont St Michel. Here, there are more than 200 alligators and crocodiles, as well as snakes and giant tortoises. More info at at www.alligator-bay.co/htm/anglais.asp.
At the St Malo Aquarium you can visit the varying seascapes of different parts of the world from cold water to tropical. You can even spend a night with the sharks! See www.aquarium-st-malo.com/great-aquarium.
About 30 minutes drive away is the Ange Michel Water Park with flumes, water chutes and slides, as well as many other rides and attractions. Go to www.ange-michel-attractions.com/index_gb.htm.
See also the note on the zip wire and luge at Ferrière-Harang which is great fun for children in a beautiful wooded valley, in the "Activities and Eating Out" section.
Children love the wonderful sandy beaches of this part of Normandy. Our favourite is Carrolles-Plage (45 minutes drive) which combines a large expanse of sandy beach with rock pools, cliff top walks and fishing for crevettes (shrimps). The latter is practiced both by professional fishermen and also by the locals just catching their supper. Why not give it a try yourself!
Incidentally, the sea here is surprisingly warm during the summer months due to the shallow waters of the bay of Mont St Michel.
And, of course, there is our huge 2 acre garden for children to roam and play. The guest comments on our testimonials page are testament to their children`s enjoyment of the garden.
